I designed the Age of Magic Launcher, a standalone desktop application used to install, update, and launch the game.
Originally, Age of Magic was available only on Android and iOS, and together with the team we created a full Windows desktop version, enabling the game to run natively on PC through this launcher.
My work included the full UI/UX flow — from the first-time installation process to the final “Launch Game” state. The goal was to create a clean, predictable, and comfortable onboarding experience that guides the player through installation with minimal friction.
The launcher interface had to be visually consistent with the game’s branding while staying lightweight and functional. I focused on creating intuitive navigation, clear progress states, and a smooth transition from installation to gameplay.
The installation process starts after downloading the setup file from the website. Users choose the directory for installation, confirm the setup, and see a clear progress state while the launcher is being installed. Once installation is complete, the launcher can be started immediately, allowing the player to proceed to updating or launching the game.
After launching the installer, the player can download the full game directly through the launcher. The interface provides access to language selection, links to social channels and support, and an option to reset game components to their default state. Once the game is downloaded, the launcher enables easy updates and offers a clear “Launch Game” action.
The game and launcher can be removed through the standard Windows “Installed apps” menu. Selecting Uninstall launches the built-in uninstaller, which cleanly removes all components from the system.
